The Hornets Reserves has a patched together squad and a friendly on a mushy Martley Village Hall ground but were still able to take away the victory through a Nick Banks goal on the stroke of half time.
The cobwebs were dusted and the Hornets got some important match time under their belts but were still a bit rusty as they looked unable to break down Martley for most of the first half. In fact it was Martley who came closest to taking the lead when a shot rasped off the foot of the post after Hornets failed to clear their lines.
The second half saw Hornets use the ball well at times but still needed to work to keep Martley at bay. Shane had the two best attempts of the second half but Hornets were unable to add to their lead.
The Reserves return to competitive action to take on Pillar of Salt in two weeks time.
